Front line emergency service practitioners, governmental leaders, nurses, medical staff, allied health professionals, managers in health, welfare and emergency services, government and related non-governmental organisations, faith-based and voluntary agencies, academic staff, researchers and others who are interested in emergency planning.

The inaugural People in Disasters Conference to be held in Christchurch, New Zealand, 24-26 February 2016. Late registration is still available.

The People in Disasters Conference is hosted by Canterbury District Health Board and the New Zealand RHISE (Researching the Health Implications of Seismic Events) group. It’s an important event for all of those in a wider health and welfare context who want to understand and prepare for disasters.

The conference will showcase important research and ‘real life’ stories from across health, education, welfare and other agencies as well as emergency response and recovery services. It will explore the effectiveness of disaster planning and preparation; what cannot be planned for; and the short and long-term psychological and sociological impacts of disasters on casualties and responders.
