While much has changed in South Sudan in recent years, questions about whether the humanitarian situation in the world's newest nation continue to be asked. This event seeks to examine the humanitarian challenges that remain in South Sudan, from the drivers of conflict in Jongelei to constraints on humanitarian access. With a live video-link to Juba, speakers in London and South Sudan will reflect ont these challenges, drawing from articles in the Exchange as well as their own experience

The aim of the Fourth Session will be to continue the momentum into a durable and sustained effort from all actors (governments, NGOs and civil society, international agencies and organizations, academic and technical institutions, and the private sector) to take shared responsibility in reducing risks and reinforcing resilience in our communities. The Fourth Session will also be an opportunity to progress and consult on the Hyogo Framework for Action.

The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) are pleased to announce the first Joint Meeting of the Pacific Platform for Disaster Risk Management and the Pacific Climate Change Round Table. The purpose of the joint meeting is to progress discussions on the development of an integrated Pacific regional strategy for Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change which is targeted for completion before 2015.
The Joint Meeting will be preceded by a series of separate parallel meetings to be held during the week of 1st – 5th July
also in Nadi, Fiji. The meetings are:

• Pacific Meteorological Council
• Strategic Alliance Meeting of Pacific Islands Disaster, Fire & Emergency Services and Police
